Tokyo, Japan—DIC Corporation announced today that on June 1, 2020, wholly owned subsidiary Sun Chemical Corporation entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of Sensient Imaging Technologies and certain other assets related to this business from Sensient Technologies Corporation of the United States. The transaction is expected to be finalized by month-end.

Sensient Imaging Technologies boasts a product lineup centered on jet inks used in digital printing on textiles,* and has established a leading position in this market. Applications for digital inkjet printing solutions for textiles are diverse and include sportswear, apparel, soft signage and interior materials, including curtains and upholstery. In addition to greater suitability for small-lot printing on diverse substrates, digital printing can deliver a lower environmental impact than conventional printing processes. Such factors are expected to drive robust growth going forward.

This acquisition will add jet inks for textiles, an entirely new product group, to the DIC Group’s jet inks portfolio. This important move was made in line with one of the key segment strategies set forth in the Group’s DIC111 medium-term management plan, which is to expand its jet inks business.

Looking ahead, the DIC Group will continue to promote the transformation of its business portfolio in line with the two basic strategies of DIC111, summarized as Value Transformation and New Pillar Creation, maintaining a focus on markets with the potential for high growth and higher added value. Through such efforts, the Group will seek to reinforce and expand its operating foundation.
