Tokyo, Japan – Sun Chemical, a wholly owned subsidiary of DIC Corporation, will present its new Beauty is Colorful campaign at In-Cosmetics 2022 on April 5-7 in Paris, France. Built on innovative and sustainable solutions, the campaign includes several new product launches and highlights the company’s growing naturals portfolio.
“It has been two years since we have been in-person with our customers,” says Bart Vanderbiest, Global Director Cosmetics, Color Materials, Sun Chemical. “Everyone is eager to understand how our color business has come together as one of the leading global pigment suppliers following the integration of BASF’s Colors & Effects business. This event marks an important moment for us to share innovative and sustainable solutions, reinforcing our commitment to the beauty industry.”

At the show, the cosmetics team will debut two new Reflecks™ Multidimensions (MD) color travel products, which join the Reflecks™ MD Midnight family that launched in July 2021. This innovative family of products delivers intense color travel and a glittering effect, using a patented process that embeds the absorption colorant into the coating layers of the effect pigment.

The built-in colorant minimizes staining on the skin when compared to blended absorption pigments. With Reflecks™ MD Midnight Teal and Reflecks™ MD Midnight Gold, formulators can simplify their product development and manufacturing, accelerating timelines to commercialization.

Using the same technology, Sun Chemical will also introduce Flamenco® Platinum, a natural mica-based effect pigment delivering a unique silver metallic effect. The particle size allows for high coverage and creates very reflective cosmetic formulations. The entire Flamenco product line uses 100% USA natural mica, sourced from Sun Chemical’s wholly owned mine in Hartwell, Ga.

“The Beauty is Colorful campaign connects our products and expertise to our customers’ needs,” says Erin Turner, Head of Global Marketing Cosmetics, Sun Chemical. “We emphasize our ability to provide colorful solutions to the beauty industry by drawing on the broadest, most comprehensive color portfolio. Building on our expertise in pigment chemistry combined with our customers’ formulation prowess, we know there is a beautiful, colorful world of cosmetics ahead of us.”
