Notification Regarding Temporary Suspension of ISO 9001 Certification for the Chiba and Hokuriku Plants

Tokyo, Japan—DIC Corporation sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience to customers and other related parties arising from improprieties in type testing of foam fire extinguishing agent MEGAFOAM IH-101-5, which was announced in a press release (in Japanese) on September 4, 2020. The Company is currently in the process of replacing this product with a new type-approved alternative.

In connection with the aforementioned improprieties, a special audit of DIC’s Chiba and Hokuriku plants (located in Chiba, Chiba Prefecture, and Hakusan, Ishikawa Prefecture, respectively) was conducted by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Ltd. (LRQA) Based on audit results, LRQA notified DIC of the temporary suspension of ISO 9001:2015 and JIS Q 9001:2015 certification for the two plants effective March 18, 2021. DIC takes these audit results seriously. The Company pledges to take corrective actions to improve its quality management system, as well as to prevent recurrence, to ensure the prompt reinstatement of certification and restore customers’ trust.
