Tokyo, Japan—DIC Corporation announced today that it has earned a rating from the Development Bank of Japan Inc. under the DBJ Environmentally Rated Loan Program, based on which it has received a loan from the bank.

The DBJ Environmentally Rated Loan Program is the world's first financing menu to select outstanding companies by evaluating their environmental management by means of the environmental rating method.

In The DIC Way, formulated to represent the DIC Group’s fundamental management philosophy, DIC outlines the Group’s mission: “We create enhanced value and utilize innovation to introduce socially responsible and sustainable products.” In line with this mission, the Group strives to conduct its operations in a manner that takes into account the global environment. The following aspects of DIC’s environmental management scored particularly highly in the DBJ program’s rating:

1. Having set forth a fundamental objective of contributing “to an increasingly green, digital and quality of life (QOL)-oriented society” in its DIC Vision 2030 long-term management plan, and having identified five priority business areas that are crucial to transforming the DIC Group’s business portfolio, DIC has formulated a long-term strategy that synchronizes its goals of helping realize a sustainable society and enhancing its own corporate value.
2. In addition to defining “sustainable products” as those which both demonstrate unique competitive strengths and address social imperatives, as well as setting a long-term target for expanding sales of products thus designated, DIC evaluates all Group products using the proprietary DIC Sustainability Index, which quantifies environmental impact and social contribution, with the intention of expanding the provision of distinctively DIC value through its core business activities.
3. The DIC Group promotes sustainability across its entire supply chain by providing feedback on the results of its analysis and assessment of suppliers’ sustainability, as well as through discussions on routes to improvement, and by conducting human rights due diligence to identify and mitigate risks posed by human rights–related issues.

As a result, DIC received the program’s highest rating, granted to companies judged to have “excellent advanced environmental initiatives.”

Looking ahead, DIC will continue to promote environment-friendly business activities that contribute to the achievement of sustainability for society with the aim of evolving as a unique global company that is trusted by society.
