We started developing the "#84 Series" based on a request from a cellphone manufacturer. # 84 series was the world's first tape that made it possible to give waterproofness by a narrow width tape shape, so it was adopted by many waterproof mobile phones. Today, in a period where smartphones are the mainstream, the #84 Series has been adopted by numerous manufacturers and thus is now inseparable from everyday life.

Tapes typically contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as toluene and xylene, a factor of "sick house syndrome." Thus, the reduction of VOCs is strongly demanded for use in the interiors of houses and cars. DIC succeeded in the development of low-VOC and low-odor tapes "AD-140E", by exploiting its own resin design technologies and non-solvent coating technologies. Today, this tape is mainly adopted in automotive interiors.

The "HC Series" was developed based on a request from a customer when the material of a cellphone display was changed from resin to glass. The combination of DIC's hard-coated resin design and precise coating technologies enabled DIC to develop HC series. The HC Series has contributed to the improvement of safety in many mobile devices. Recently, the product is also adopted by many initiatives for displays used in Automotive.
