Label-Less, Mono-Material Packaging for a More Circular Future
What Is Mono-Material Packaging?
Packaging for food and everyday consumer products is typically made using multilayer (multi-material) structures. For example, plastic films such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polyester, as well as materials like aluminum and paper, are combined to enhance performance—such as moisture resistance, mechanical strength and barrier properties. However, these mixed materials make recycling difficult.
In contrast, Mono-material packaging is made entirely from a single material (e.g., all PE or all PP).
This significantly simplifies sorting and recycling processes and supports the development of a more circular packaging system.
Do You Face These Challenges?
- Reduce on-site work such as label application and inventory management
- Enable flexible packaging that supports small-lot, high-mix production
- Improve productivity and simplify production processes
- Reduce waste losses and achieve more sustainable operations
- Extend shelf life and design packaging that’s easier to recycle
