Surface Modifiers (Non-reactive)

Among “Fluorosufractants”, there are those that work as surface modifiers based on the unique properties of the fluorine atom. They provide water repellency, oil repellency, stain resistance, non-adhesiveness, anti-blocking, stain resistance and slipperiness to the solid surface. One typical exmaple is the oil repellency. It is difficult to obtain good effect of oil repellency by non-fluorine-based additives while fluorine-based products work remarkably due to the properties of fluorine.

Difference between “Surfactants” and “Surface modifiers”

Fluoro additives include “Surface modifiers” which modify the properties of molded solid surfaces and “Surfactants” which do not.

Features of Surface Modifiers (Non-reactive)

  • Demonstrate strong water repellency
  • Strongly repel both oils and organic solvents
  • Prevents the adherence of various kinds of stain
  • Improves coatability (wettability, smoothness) as the same time
