Cellular phones
Industrial adhesive tapes manufactured by DIC are used in cellular phones.
Contributing to improvements in cellular phone performance

Cellular phones are absolutely necessary to modern life. No longer simply instruments for talking to other people, cellular phones have evolved into ultrahandy devices that can be used to take pictures, send emails and access the Internet. Contributing to the convenience of these devices, DIC manufactures various industrial adhesive tapes that are used to secure and protect cellular phone parts.
For example, products in the DICTAT series are used to prevent LCD screen glass from shattering. Tapes in the SA-S/CP series are used to attach the screen panel to the body of the phone. Recently, DIC technologies have been used in the WS series, used to make screens waterproof, as well as in adhesive tapes for a variety of other parts. As this indicates, adhesive tapes have differing characteristics depending on which parts they are used for.
Shatter-proofing adhesive films for screen glass boast high surface hardness and excellent abrasion resistance. Adhesive tapes used to attach screen panels to cell phone bodies boast excellent impact resistance and durability. These tapes are also suited for use in the ultraviolet (UV) coating of various surfaces. The ability of waterproofing tapes to prevent the penetration of water is due to a combination of foam backing material and a special adhesive.
By ensuring firm adhesion of parts, thereby maximizing performance, DIC's adhesive tapes also contribute to the further miniaturization and increased functionality of electronic devices.
Making TVs, computers and other home electronics products, and home entertainment and OA equipment more environment friendly
DAITAC #8800ECO-R is an adhesive tape developed for use with recyclable parts to facilitate the reuse of both parts and the materials therein. DAITAC #8800ECO-R features a high-performance emulsion-type, acrylic-based adhesive that delivers the same bonding strength and repulsion resistance as conventional adhesive tapes, while at the same time reducing emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), a cause of air pollution and sick building syndrome, by more than 90%, and greatly lessening odor. It can be peeled off cleanly without heating or other special treatment when dismantling products for recycling. Going forward, DIC will continue to expand its lineup of environment-friendly adhesive tapes for the electronics industry.
Adhesive products are also used for automotive parts and materials
Low-VOC adhesive products are used to attach air conditioning units and interior components. The use of high-performance emulsion-type adhesives ensures bonding strength remains consistent, even under extreme conditions, and contributes significantly to the reduction of VOC emissions inside vehicles. DIC will continue to focus efforts on broadening its selection of adhesive products that meet the needs of the automobile industry, building on its lineup of general-purpose products, which have always enjoyed widespread use.
